The Hype about Emotional Intelligence

Studies show that the higher up the ladder of success you go...CEO, etc... the LOWER your Emotional Intelligence becomes... it peaks at around Middle Management...because THEY MANAGE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME, Up and down the business,.... but the CEO, is like a Director of a movie....he has "people" do that for him..."he focuses on the movie"... so he simply does not need as much to manage the direction of the business. Maybe that is why...

EQ is all about impusle control, managing to control your emotions (1st u need to be aware of them) and not act like a fool lets say in work.
EQ is about recognizing someone's feelings - when they are sad, so that you can behave in a certain understanding way. reading about it wont help, you need to practise. Thats where mindfulness comes in, where focus and self-awarness are a big thing.

Well Im not interested in business as a psychotherapist but I do see merit in for 'ordinary' people disciering strengths and vulnerabilities in themselves and others and finding ways to minimise conflict and ensure a smoother more fulfilling life path. Any kind of positive structure is worth a try. Manipulation doesnt always have to be a bad thing; also key is getting to know when someone is being genuine or not. We have all been on the receiving end of a game player or a manipulator. Learning from this is the point. This increases our 'emotional intelligence' and we can adjust our attitude according to who we are dealing with. There will always be genuinely nice people, and there will always ar.....s!

Its just a way to undermine the high aptitude/high IQ among us who don't let "feelz" control everything..a way for the current parasitic "alphas" to stay on top.

According to nationally recognized relationship expert and executive coach Dr. Jeffrey Bernstein, emotional intelligence is a key predictor of children's ability to develop suitable peer relationships, get along at home, develop a well-balanced outlook on life, and reach their academic potential at school. He uses the term EQ to encompass five abilities:

1. Self-awareness- knowing your emotions, recognizing feelings as they occur, and discriminating between them.

2. Mood management- handling feelings so they're relevant to the current situation and you react appropriately

3. Self-motivation- "gathering up" your feelings and directing yourself toward a goal, despite self-doubt, inertia, and impulsiveness

4. Empathy- recognizing feelings in others and tuning into their verbal and nonverbal cues

5. Managing relationships- handling interpersonal interaction, conflict resolution, and negotiations

People who have these skills are the people you want in your corner and in your life. They are capable of not only reading your desires and fears, but they also respect them and help you achieve your goals.
